Attorney joins board of CLARE | MATRIX

Latinos LEAD facilitates the election of Melissa Sandoval to governing board of leading addiction treatment/recovery nonprofit organization

March 22, 2021 Los Angeles – CLARE | MATRIX is pleased to announce the appointment of Melissa Sandoval to its governing Board of Directors. Ms. Sandoval is Senior Counsel at SoCal Gas. CLARE | MATRIX collaborated with Latinos LEAD to engage Ms. Sandoval as a board nominee through Latino Online Board Opportunities (LOBO) the online board member recruiting component of Latinos LEAD.

“Melissa joins CLARE | MATRIX as we continue to grow our services to support those in our community facing myriad challenges,” said Dr. Lisa Steele, CEO at CLARE | MATRIX. “Her legal expertise, combined with a background in community-based mental health services, gives her unique insights that will be strategically valuable to our governing board.”

About Melissa Sandoval: Ms. Sandoval is Senior Counsel at SoCal Gas, a Sempra Energy utility, where she manages a caseload of personal injury and commercial litigation, provides counsel to business units on safety and regulatory matters, and is part of the Emergency Operations Center designated response team. Prior to joining SoCalGas, Ms. Sandoval was in-house trial counsel at Union Pacific Railroad, where she managed a diverse caseload of employment, property, personal injury, and regulatory litigation. In addition, she served as the legal advisor to the executive who managed the company’s operating territory from San Luis Obispo, California to El Paso, Texas. While attending law school at University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, Ms. Sandoval worked full-time at Victor Community Support Services (“VCSS”), serving as clinical supervisor/quality assurance, where she oversaw all clinical documentation and billing for the Marysville program, including supervising licensed clinicians and student interns. She completed her tenure at VCSS as Assistant Director of Business and Program Development, acting as the HIPAA Compliance Officer and Privacy Officer for all 15 clinical programs.
